Using data responsibly is a moral imperative because, over the next 50 years, Artificial Intelligence (AI) will touch every person participating in the modern economy. Each system is biased towards how it is measured, and every algorithm is biased by the blindspots and assumptions of their creator. We are still in the beginning stages of this transformation, but leaders have already lost the public trust because what worked in 1995 doesn’t work anymore.
Why think responsibly? You put customers at ease by reinforcing trust that is so hard to gain but easy to lose because they feel respected and no interaction is uncomfortable or feels like overreach. Shareholders and stakeholders are relieved to have the risk to the brand and the business mitigated. Finally, it is the right thing to do for the names, faces, voices and behaviors that fuel the contemporary economy.
